Dartigalongue

Our Blends

The DARTIGALONGUE house blends are created in tandem by Ghislain Laffargue, cellar master since 1990 and Benoit Hillion, Director and nephew by marriage of Françoise Dartigalongue.
Each blend is created using several complimentary vintages, one that brings fruit, another that brings tannins, another that brings floral notes… in order to achieve a balanced and complete blend. The DARTIGALONGUE house style of blend can be summed up in two words: freshness and full flavoured.

Our vintages

40°/70 cl

Since the 19th century, the DARTIGALONGUE family has been selling vintage Armagnacs.
The vintage corresponds to the year of the harvest. The youngest vintages sold by DARTIGALONGUE have been ageing for at least 15 years in 400 litre oak barrels. After 40 to 50 years of ageing in wood, they are placed into glass bonbonnes (demi-johns) in order to preserve their taste quality and to stop the alcohol degrees decreasing. The oldest vintages are kept in the « Paradise ».
Every vintage is unique and has its own personality. Its characteristics evolve from year to year with the ageing and the « angel’s share » (3 to 4 % of evaporation each year in wood).
The bottling is done by hand very regularly and the bottling date is always indicated on the back label.
The house of DARTIGALONGUE currently has more than 60 Armagnac vintages from the years 2000’s, 1990’s, 80’s, 70’s, etc … up until the 19th century (list of vintages available on demand).
The oldest vintage in the collection is 1848, the pride of the house seeing as this is unique in the Armagnac appellation and exclusively available from the DARTIGALONGUE family.

Our limited editions

Variable degrees /70 cl

The range « Selection of Vintages » is another way to approach a vintage: in certain barrels of exceptional quality, the cellar master will look for the ideal alcohol degrees that will best reveal the character of the vintage and the style of the Armagnac at a precise stage in its ageing.
These barrels are bottled in a limited edition (SINGLE CASK) and each bottle is numbered. The range has 3 and 4 vintages that change regularly over the years. Each edition is therefore ephemeral.
